Inaugurated in 2019, the New Samuel de Champlain Bridge is over 2 miles long, connecting Montreal to the South Shore across the St. Lawrence River. The lanes are on three independent decks, forming one of the world’s largest bridges.
ADF was subcontracted to fabricate the three-dimensional beams and apply their coating. Some of the beams weigh up to 80 tons, which created a significant challenge in their handling, especially in the paint shop. Special lifting devices were used to pivot the beams 180 degrees.
