Upon completion, the New Kansas City International Airport Terminal will become the largest single infrastructure in the city’s history. It will span just over 1,000,000 sqft, which includes a 2-story modern air-traveling headhouse & 2 state of the art concourses composed of 39 gates.
For this project, ADF was awarded the contract for fabrication, industrial coating, and assembly of steel structures for the new terminal. This contract also included shop drawings and connection engineering, as well as supplying raw material (steel). The 10,000 tons project included 25 Y-columns ranging from 80,000-90,000 pounds and box girders spanning over 90’ feet long which were under AESS compliance. Regardless of the many changes experienced on the project, ADF was able to retain the base contract schedule. Photos Credit : Build KCI
